Dirk Nowitzki is one of the most lovable basketball players of all time. The recently retired Dallas Maverick always seemed to bring a smile to fan’s face, even if they weren’t Mavs fans, and when he announced he’d be leaving the game, it brought tears to the eyes of many.

Now we’re back to smiles, however. On Saturday, the Mavs shared out a video of Dirk attending a FC Dallas match at Toyota Stadium, where the team and the fans celebrated his great career in the city. It included him attempting a penalty kick, which he “scored”, but we’re thinking he may have had a little advantage.

Gotta protect the hip flexor!

It’s not Dirk’s first time on a soccer pitch. In fact, this video reminds us of another hilarious video in which the German basketball legend attempts to pull off a bicycle kick, one of the hardest ways to score in the sport.

Hmm, not quite as impressive as his skills on the court, but we applaud him for trying.

The future Hall of Famer just continues to work his way deeper and deeper into our hearts.
