Just because the fans in the stands at baseball games are mostly made of cardboard, it doesn’t mean the person on the board can’t end up with souvenirs from the players.
On July 25, the Los Angeles Dodgers were defeated, 5-4, by the San Francisco Giants. The Dodgers’ final run in the game came courtesy of a solo home run by Will Smith in the bottom of the ninth, and he nearly destroyed one of the fan cutouts with the shot.
It might have only been a cardboard fan, but the person on the cutout that nearly got decapitated got hooked up with a souvenir from the Dodgers and Will Smith himself.
Not a bad trade off at all for the young fan who ended up with the bat.
