Once a year, Russian President Vladimir Putin like to chum around with hockey stars, and even plays them in an exhibition game. Many former NHLers take part in the game, but it’s not exactly high-quality hockey.
Either the players lost their hockey powers in a Space Jam-esque alien theft, or they aren’t exactly putting in 100% against their country’s leader. We’ll let you decide.
None of the eight goals Putin somehow managed to score are what people are talking about, though. The real highlight came after the game when the President was circling the ice, waving at the crowd. Apparently he was focusing a little too hard, and failed to notice the red carpet that had been laid across the ice.
Not the way Putin was hoping to end the afternoon, especially after an 8-goal spectacle he put on.
