Alphonso Davies has won over a lot of fans in his young career, but perhaps none with a larger celebrity status than Drake.
The Toronto rapper apparently texted Alphonso Davies after Canada’s big 4-1 win over Panama on Wednesday saying that he wanted to hang out with the guys. It’s no surprise that this game was the one that sparked the conversation, as Davies scored one of the nicest goals in Canadian soccer history to put Canada in front in the 2nd half.
This wasn’t a “hey we should hang out sometime” either. Drake wanted to hang with the boys immediately.
Just hours after the game, members of Team Canada began posting photos hanging out with Drizzy at Sotto Sotto restaurant in Toronto. Drake also posted Phonzie’s jersey to Instagram story, one he presumably got from Davies himself.
We’ve all seen what Drake has been able to do for the Toronto Raptors, so there’s no doubt the Men’s National Team would welcome him with open arms as a celebrity fan. Maybe we’ll even see Drake sitting courtside… er… field side for Canada’s next game!
