When an amateur athlete reaches the professional ranks, you often see rookies or youngsters splurge on those that helped them get to the highest level of play.

Whether it’s friends or family that receive gifts in the form of vehicles, houses, jewelry, merchandise or game tickets, athletes are generally pretty gracious in throwing helping out those that helped them along the way. While it can be to a fault sometimes when there’s a massive entourage of people causing a distraction, it’s cool to see athletes give back and show a token of appreciation.

Teachers and guidance counselors can play a pivotal role in helping athletes stay focused on their tasks at hand, all while trying to balance their education and make sure they aren’t distracted by the social aspects teenagers face.

Philadelphia Eagles rookie cornerback Corey Clement had a deal with his high school guidance counselor back home in Glassboro, New Jersey, that if he made the NFL one day, he could have her BMW, a car Clement obsessed over in high school.

Well, since Clement is playing for the NFL’s league leading 10-1 Eagles, his grade nine counselor held her word and granted Clement with the new Beemer.

Technically, the deal was supposed to be if Clement was drafted into the league, but the counselor made an exception, since making the NFL is sufficent enough.

Clement has gotten off to a fine start in his NFL career, rushing for six touchdowns and 259 yards while rotating out of the backfield with Jay Ajayi and LeGarrette Blount. The 23-year-old is only making $25,000 in guaranteed money, so he’ll likely need to be active a few more games if he wants to buy her a new or replacement vehicle.

It’s pretty awesome to see her honour her bet, and the great story it made. Now it’s time for the former Wisconsin star to buy her a car back!
