When you reach the semi-finals in the World Cup for the first time in 28 years, there’s an extremely high chance supporters will be celebrating in the streets.

Much has been made about the popularity of this English team compared to previous versions of the country competing at the World Cup. Their coach, Gareth Southgate, has become a living legend amongst English fans for his out-going personality and engagement with the fans.

While the players and coaches remain, the same cannot be said for English fans.

Following their victory, fans took to the streets all around their country and in Russia to celebrate the fact that they’re one step closer to “football coming home.”

Prior to the match, there were whispers that fans would head to Ikea stores to celebrate the win over the Swedes. Well, the rumours were true, and fans got pretty rowdy inside the stores by jumping up and down on couches, beds, and pretty much anything in sight.

After a Twitter user tagged IKEA, the Swedish company issued this message via their UK Twitter account.

Elsewhere, fans were a little more behaved, but still celebrated in an appropriate manner.

While the mayhem wasn’t too severe, somebody still has to clean up the mess and pay for the damage caused.

England will take on Croatia in the second semi-final matchup come Wednesday. The winner will face either France or Belgium in the World Cup Final.
