Erik Karlsson is officially out of Ottawa but it seems as though his relationship with management quieted down a far time ahead of his departure.

After getting sent to San Jose in a blockbuster trade involving current players, prospects, and draft picks, Karlsson touched on his relationship with Eugene Melnyk & co. over the past season and revealed that he hasn’t spoken to any of them since last November when the team asked for his no-trade list.

He then continued with:

The following is an excerpt from the Toronto Sun:

“That’s the way it is, I guess. That’s the only situation I know that’s been like this. It was what it was. I was there to play hockey and I did that to the best of my ability with what we had. That’s all that I worried about."

“Everything else around it is above my pay grade. That’s not my question to ask.”

Karlsson has insisted he never asked for a trade, and this seems to further prove his point. Despite his lack of communication with management, he was still all class in his final goodbye to the city. However, he didn’t really mention anything really about management.

We have a feeling Karlsson is going to fit just fine in San Jose.
