It’s not every day you get see brothers playing on the same NHL team, but it’s going to be a lot more common in the near future based on what’s happened in the NHL so far this offseason.

It all started on Wednesday during the NHL Expansion Draft when the Seattle Kraken selected Haydn Fleury from the Anaheim Ducks and Cale Fleury from the Montreal Canadiens.

Two days later we saw two more brother combinations appear, with Seth Jones getting traded to the Chicago Blackhawks less than two weeks after his brother Caleb was traded to the Blackhawks in the Duncan Keith trade, and then with Luke Hughes going 4th overall to the New Jersey Devils in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, joining his brother Jack.

Then on Saturday it happened again. Not once, but twice.

While the Jones Brothers were getting accustomed to their new home city, the Blackhawks were at it again as they drafted Kirby Dach’s brother, Colton, with the 62nd pick in the 2nd round of the draft.

A few hours later, with the draft nearing its end, the Colorado Avalanche went and selected Cale Makar’s brother, Taylor, with the 220nd pick in the 7th round. This also happened to come hours after the Avs handed Cale a lengthy and well-deserved contract extension.

With the free agent market set to open in a few days who knows what kind of moves we’ll see happen, but maybe we’ll see another set of brothers end up on the same squad since it seems to be a recent trend.
