What happens on the ice is one thing, but it’s always gratifying to see hockey players who make it to the game’s highest level give back. Even the tiniest gestures can mean a lot to a fan.

It wasn’t just any fan that Flames goaltender David Rittich had in mind on Friday night, however. Instead, the Czech native invited his brother Tomas, who is autistic, to the game, and to meet one of his personal favorites, Flames mascot Harvey the Hound.

“When they're watching my games when they're back home, he's always looking for Harvey the Hound,” David told the Flames’ official website. The story details the close relationship that David and Tomas have, and how Tomas’ life on the autism spectrum has had a significant impact for both brothers.

Rittich is in his third NHL season, all with the Flames. It’s heartwarming to see that even as he works his way up in the league, he’s still thinking of his family overseas.
