This seemed like it could’ve been Canada’s year in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Three Canadian teams entered the playoffs afte relatively strong regular seasons, each with respectable chances against the playoff field.

However, the Calgary Flames were upset by the Colorado Avalanche, and now, the Winnipeg Jets are also out after losing to the St. Louis Blues.

For the first time since 2002, that leaves the Leafs — who have a chance to eliminate the Bruins in Sunday’s Game 6 — as the last Canadian team standing in the playoffs.

Are the #Leafs now Canada’s team? 🤔🇨🇦

Of course, there was a bit of a playoff drought for the Leafs there in much of those middle years between the peak of the Mats Sundin era and the current iteration of the team, but now they resemble Canada’s last chance at the Cup this season.

Does that mean that the hockey world, north of the border, is going to be pulling for Toronto to win it all?

Well, not quite. For the most part, you guys are firmly anti-Leafs, although there were a few exceptions to that as well.
