Tuesday was not your normal day in hockey as there was a special game being played in the afternoon between the Leafs and Hurricanes.

The game marked the 100th anniversary of the first ever NHL game which featured the Leafs and Toronto won the contest easily as they absolutely blew out the Hurricanes thanks to a big game from Mitch Marner.

Lost in the 8-1 final score, though, was how well Frederik Andersen played in net for the Buds.  Andersen made 32 saves (some of which were jaw dropping) in the victory and he did it while wearing a new mask for the special game.

It was such an awesome experience to create this piece for Frederik Andersen [🍁] . The design is totally inspired from the awesome #Nhl100 jersey☑️. The beautiful logo is hovering on the top, with a strong contrast built design on the sides [🎨] . It is created heavily with very clearly visible brush strokes in blue and white [🖌] . I just love the brush, it gives so much life to the colors. Thanks Frederik! I am so proud to be your artist and create and evolve all your masks🇩🇰. Every mask I create and paint is totally unique and created for only one person, the goalie himself [🙏] 🏻. @frederikandersen31 @mapleleafs @daveart @nhl #DaveArtTheStoryteller #DaveArtTheCradleOfCreativity #DaveArt4D

David Gunnarsson makes masks for a ton of goalies, including Andersen and the Leafs goalie loved how the mask turned out for the historic game.

Considering how well the Leafs played in their Toronto Arenas jerseys, fans probably want them to rock them more often, which would mean Andersen would get to rock his awesome new mask more, too.
