Every NHL hockey draft starts off the exact same way.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman bravely walks out to the middle of the event’s stage, only to be greeted by a chorus of boos. It’s been happening for years and likely won’t be changing any time soon. But the 65-year-old doesn’t seem to mind it all that much. In fact, he's perfectly okay with it.

Bettman’s lengthy 25 year tenure would suggest he’s done remarkable work in the position, however, the league has experienced some of its lowest moments during that stretch. Since taking over in 1993, the NHL has experienced three separate lockouts under his watch.

No matter what Bettman does for the league going forward, he’ll simply always have his haters. At least he’s learned to not take it all to heart.
