On Thursday, the GOAT of MMA officially announced his retirement.  Canadian Georges St-Pierre last fought in 2017 when he made his return to the octagon and defeated Michael Bisping.

Over a year later, the legend announced his retirement at the Bell Centre in Montreal.  Retirements aren't usually happy occasions for athletes, but St-Pierre explained he's happy with his decision.  He also made sure to thank everyone that helped him get to this point, including a Canadian hockey icon known as "The Great One."

To hear how much of an impact Wayne Gretzky had on GSP was truly incredible.  It's also really interesting that he was an Oilers fan growing up.

GSP thanked a lot of people during his press conference, but we, along with fight fans everywhere, should be thanking him for everything he did for the sport and for being an incredible role model inside and outside of the octagon.
