The New York Giants are a franchise in flux heading into the 2019 season.  Eli Manning is still at the helm under center, but Daniel Jones (who was drafted in the first round, 6th overall) is waiting in the wings and the hype train on him is out of control after the first week of pre-season football.

Jones was a perfect 5/5 for 67 yards and a touchdown, much to the delight of Giants fans everywhere who have lost faith in Eli's ability to lead their team back to the playoffs.

Ownership has a difference of opinion, though, and on Tuesday John Mara explained how he'd like the season to play out at the quarterback position

Giants fans might not want to hear that from Mara, but this scenario would be ideal for Jones' development.  Let's be honest, one good pre-season outing doesn't guarantee success or mean failure is around the corner.

There are still a lot of Daniel Jones doubters out there and him playing this season with how depleted the Giants are at wide receiver could be the worst thing for his long-term development.

If Manning plays like he did last year, however, the team may feel pressured into throwing Jones into the fire, so it will be interesting to see how the season plays out for Big Blue.
