The Overwatch League is opening play on its second season this week, with expansion teams in Toronto and Vancouver joining the fray this season. First, though, the Philadelphia Fusion opened the season with a rematch of last season’s Grand Finals against the London Spitfire, and they made a rather memorable entrance.
The team repped its city roots hard, bringing a Philly icon along for their entrance. It’s... (drumroll) Gritty!
So, if you wanted to know what Gritty was up to on Valentine’s Day... he’s playing hypeman for another Philly sports team, the way it was meant to be. If you thought that Gritty couldn’t be any more of an internet sensation, just wait until the esports community gets ahold of him.
Gritty has yet to reclaim the number one spot atop our Mascot Power Rankings, but with this, he may be well on his way back. Stephen Colbert and Patrick Stewart seem to be on board!
