The Philadelphia Flyers unveiled their new mascot, Gritty, on Monday morning and there were a lot of mixed reactions as fans around the league shared hilarious comparisons moments after the reveal was made.

Gritty’s first NHL experience came on Monday night as the Flyers hosted the Boston Bruins and the NHL’s newest mascot didn’t waste time making a fantastic first impression. During an in-game stunt that involved Gritty firing T-shirts into the crowd to the Flyers faithful, things took a turn for the worst pretty quickly as the newest member of the Flyers organization decided to start firing T-shirts at other Flyers employees.

We’re guessing Gritty probably turned on the Flyers employees because they were cracking jokes about him wiping out during his first-ever firing of the T-shirt gun, which also turned him into quite the online sensation.

Not the debut Gritty was hoping for but things can only go up from here.
