The Washington Capitals' first round pick wasn’t a big Twitter guy until… yesterday, when he managed to capture Alex Ovechkin’s attention with a couple of throwback photos. Long story short, Lapierre posted a photo of himself as a child wearing an Ovechkin jersey, which the Caps then shared to their own Twitter page. Ovi took notice, and made sure to welcome him the best way he could by posting the following:
Pretty cool, right? Well, Hendrix obviously felt the need to reply to the action (how could you not when Ovi tweets at you?!), and think we can all agree that his first tweet (EVER!) was a pretty good one…
And just like that, the guy went from basically having no followers to more than 2,000. And we’re sure that number is going to grow!
Ovi and Hendrix are a good 17 years apart in age but who knows, this could be the start of a solid friendship. Perhaps the centre will have a chance to play alongside the Russian in the next few years before the latter decides to hang’em up.
