The Rangers officially announced they have bought out the last year of veteran goalie Henrik Lundqvist's contract.

Lundqvist now becomes a free agent after spending 15 long, great years with the New York Rangers and of course, he couldn't leave without the warmest of goodbyes and thank-yous to the organization and the fans.

This has to be one of the most heartbreaking departures in hockey history.

He also went on to thank his teammates, reminiscing on all the good moments.

Fans were getting the tissues, the ice cream... whatever heals a broken heart as they too reminisced.
