We’ve seen athletes of all ages show incredible sportsmanship in many different ways over the years. From helping an injured opponent to teaching an opponent some new tricks, we thought we had seen it all. Until now.

Last week, the Mounds View Mustangs and the Totino-Grace Eagles went head-to-head in the high school section championship game. Mounds View pitcher Ty Koehn went the distance in the Mustangs’ 4-0 victory as he threw a three-hit complete game shutout, but after throwing a strike to get the final out of the game he did something we’ve never seen before.

Jack Kocon was the Tortino-Grace batter who struck out to end the game and he also happens to be one of Koehn’s good friends. Instead of running right into the celebration and soaking in all the glory, Koehn went directly to home plate to console his friend before finally celebrating with his teammates.

Incredibly classy move by the young pitcher.
