Finland and USA put together quite the defensive battle in the first two periods of the 2019 World Juniors gold medal game, but both teams turned it up a notch in the final frame and combined for three goals in less than a two minute span.

However, after giving up the lead late in the game, the Finns got the last laugh as they capitalized with less than 90 seconds left on the clock to seal the deal and capture the gold medal at this yearโ€™s edition of the World Juniors.

Considering many people expected Finland to get bounced by Canada in the quarterfinals, the Finns went into the gold medal game as underdogs against the Americans but fought it out until the very end to come out on top. As you can probably expect, fans around the world were shocked by the fantastic  tournament by the Finns but showed them nothing but love when it was all said and done.

With the gold medal victory at this yearโ€™s tournament, Finland is now set up pretty nicely for next yearโ€™s tournament as theyโ€™ll be in a group that includes Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia and Kazakhstan, while USA will be in a group that includes Canada, Russia, Czech Republic and Germany.
