Chicago Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville is one of a kind.

When the 59 year-old isn’t yelling at his troops on the bench, he apparently enjoys his time betting on horses at the track. One of his longtime players, Blackhawks blueliner Brent Seabrook, detailed his passion for the sport with a unique story on the Spttin’ Chiclets podcast. During a conversation with Paul Bissonnette, Seabrook recalled a time when his coach was overjoyed after winning a huge sum of money.

That’s one way to fire up the lads! 250K certainly isn’t something to sneeze at.

It’s stories like this that have likely earned Quenneville such a strong reputation around the league. Earlier this year, he was voted as the coach players would most want to play for in the NHL. And in classic fashion, the jokester had a pretty hilarious answer to the results.

Quenneville also moved his way into second all-time on most games coached in the NHL. For the sake of him (and his players), hopefully he wins a couple of more races to help fire up the boys on the ice.
