The Alex Ovechkin-Sidney Crosby rivalry is still very much alive.

Since 2005, the two have battled for NHL supremacy and 14 years later, things haven’t really changed. Ovechkin leads the league in goals while Crosby is still regarded as one of the most complete players in hockey. But over time, both players have managed to have some fun with their little feud.

The Capitals are in Toronto to take on the Maple Leafs on Tuesday night and Ovi and his teammates made a trip over to the Hockey Hall of Fame ahead of their action to donate one of the team’s 2017-18 Stanley Cup rings. An eager fan spotted the Russian’s signature salt and pepper look and attempted to get a photo with him but before the cameras clicked, Ovi made a request. Well, not a request really.

He literally removed a Sidney Crosby stocking hat from the youngster’s head before the picture was taken.

Come on Ovi that’s not nice! Especially after Sid made a nice gesture towards a Caps fan at All-Star weekend. As a friendly reminder, Crosby tossed a puck over the glass to a kid wearing an Ovechkin Capitals jersey. Guess he was supporting the Metropolitan Division but it was still a nice gesture from the Penguins’ captain!

Let’s not forget, however, that Crosby and Ovechkin’s rivalry on the ice is as strong as ever. Ovi actually asked Sid if he wanted to drop the mitts during a heated exchange between the Caps and Pens earlier this season for crying out loud, something we’d never seen up until this year!

Take note Pens fans: if you ever see Ovechkin in public, just remove your Pittsburgh hat first or you might end up feeling like one unhappy camper.
