A referee has the power to dictate a hockey game for either the better, or worse. One player who found his team on the wrong side of the coin had an outburst that nearly resulted in one ref losing a few of his teeth.

A skater appeared to be so fed up with one referee that he decided to take things into his own hands (literally) and fed the zebra a fist to the kisser. The ref was surprisingly able to get back onto his blades like the whole thing didn’t even happen and proceeded to throw the player out of the game.

Did anyone else catch how stone cold the opposing team’s bench was after the incident?

The attack initially had the look of a familiar move that was performed by Anaheim Ducks defenceman Kevin Bieksa. Fortunately for the ref, the punch paled in comparison.

The whole thing was obviously a bit overboard, but any viewer will agree that this particular situation could have been worse. Take this coach for example, who literally took a swing at an official with a stick.

Luckily the player’s teammate was able to step in before things escalated too much, but he’ll still likely be receiving a major suspension for his actions.
