Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier suffered a very scary injury last December as he had to be stretchered off the field due to a severe back injury suffered during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Over the past four months, the 25-year-old has shared numerous inspirational posts documenting his road to recovery, but one of the greatest moments took place on Thursday night at the NFL Draft.
As the Steelers prepared to make their first pick in the 2018 NFL Draft with the 28th overall pick, everyone in attendance and watching at home were brought to their feet as Shazier walked out onto the stage to make the pick for the organization.
Shazier still has ways to go before he can even consider trying to make a professional football comeback, but moments like this one show that the recovery is going well and he’s going to motivate and inspire many people along the way.
