Much has been made about Lionel Messi's underwhelming World Cup career with just 5 goals in 17 career World Cup games.

That stat was pointed out by fans to criticize Messi even more Sunday morning as Harry Kane scored a hat trick for England to get to five goals for the tournament, the same number Messi has scored in four World Cups combined.

Obviously you can't just compare the two straight up because there are many other factors that have led to the success of Kane at this World Cup and Messi's shortcomings, but it's a crazy stat nonetheless.

Kane still has a long way to go in his career, though, if he's going to be as accomplished as one of the best to ever do it, which fans pointed out.
