Instagram has announced a brand new service and application that is slated to go head-to-head with YouTube with how curators can share their content. 

IGTV will be hosting long form video inside Instagram’s existing app that will allow viewers to watch vertical video from Instagram’s biggest accounts.

Instagram will be launching an IGTV, and allow its users to create their own personal channel of videos that can last up to ten minutes, with some users granted 60 minutes depending on how big their audiences. Everything will be precorded, meaning it won’t feature any live video.

There will be multiple ways for people to search through the various types of coentent: options include “For You, “Following,” “Popular” and “Continue Watching.”

Instagram now has over 1 billion users, according to CEO Kevin Systrom.  As of June 1st, according to DreamGrow.com, it’s the third most popular social networking app in the world, only behind YouTube and Facebook.
