The New York Islanders are off until Thursday night when they’ll head across the city to play the New York Rangers, so they have a few days to rest and regroup.

On Tuesday, the Isles changed things up at their morning practice as they welcomed a special guest on the ice with them.

Brandon Bloom is an 8-year-old Islanders fan battling Stage 4 non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, but today the players and coaching staff welcomed him with open arms and made him a member of the team for the day.

The guys included him in different drills throughout the day and made sure to give him an experience he would never forget.

The young warrior capped off his day with the Islanders by potting his first goal and the entire team was behind him after he scored.

This is just one of the many reasons why we love sports.
