And just like that, Marc-Andre Fleury’s time with the Vegas Golden Knights has come to an end.

On Tuesday, the NHL’s second newest team shipped him to Chicago for basically nothing. Seriously, the package was so insignificant that pretty much everyone in the hockey world is shaking their heads over it. Yes, Vegas created cap room for a potential signing but come on… this is the reigning Vezina trophy winner we’re talking about here!

What makes this entire thing even worse is how Fleury found out he was getting traded. According to Jesse Granger, a source close to Fleury said that the three-time Cup winner discovered the trade on Twitter. Yes, The Flower, arguably the most respected tendy in the league right now, found out on TWITTER.

Just brutal. And the cherry on top? Owner Bill Foley told Fleury in the past that he would retire a Golden Knight. The sports business is certainly a tough one.

This whole thing just seems off. A surprised Fleury is reportedly contemplating whether he will even play for his new team next season, according to his agent Alan Walsh. It’s not like it would be the end of the world for Chicago if he did, but his presence would certainly solve a hole on their roster.

We’re just going to have to wait and see what happens. Strange situation.
