J.J. Watt is from Waukesha, Wisconsin, but ever since being drafted to the Houston Texans with the 11th overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft, Houston has become his second home.

With the devastating events of Hurricane Harvey unfolding in Houston, Watt has been watching on television wishing he could do more to help. The Texans were in New Orleans for their game against the Saints, and flew back into Dallas, Texas for safety reasons Sunday.

Watt posted a heartfelt and emotional video to social media Sunday about how hard it is to know what’s going on in Houston and not be able to help.

The defensive end initiated the fundraiser with a $100,000 donation to benefit victims of the flooding in and around Houston. The city of Houston has embraced Watt from day one of his NFL journey, and it’s clear he has embraced the city in the exact same way. Watt’s kind words and actions help Houston stay strong in this devastating time.
