Like in any good playoff series, things are getting heated between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Bruins. There was quite the flare-up in Game 2, when Nazem Kadri cross-checked Jake DeBrusk in retaliation to his hit on Patrick Marleau; as a result, Kadri was suspended for the rest of the series.

In the continuing fallout, however, DeBrusk reveals that the harassment on social media has gotten to the point that he has had to delete Twitter and Instagram from his phone.

It’s just a game, people.

It’s never a good sign when family members are being roped into these things. Tensions run high in the playoffs, and fans will chirp players, but when it gets to this point off the ice, then that’s generally when a line has been crossed.

Before DeBrusk went at Marleau in Game 2, he also laid a hit earlier in the game on Kadri with seeming knee-on-knee contact leading to a brief injury scare. While Kadri ultimately stayed in the game, this hit was also another reason that DeBrusk has drawn some hostility; for his part, however, he denied any intention of making a dirty play.
