If you look up the world ‘longevity’ in the hockey dictionary, there should very well be a photo of Jaromir Jagr’s luscious mullet next to it.

Today is the legend’s birthday, and we know this might be hard to believe, but Jagr turns 49 years old today.

He was drafted fifth overall to the NHL in 1990 by the Pittsburgh Penguins,  and  case you didn’t know because you haven’t seen him in the NHL in a while, Jagr is still very much playing professional hockey.

He started he professional hockey career with the Czech league’s Rytiri Kladno back in 1984, and now, over thirty years later, he’s winding down (probably?) his career in the same place. Not only is he playing for the team, he also owns it.

‘Slowing down’ doesn’t really seem to be a term in Jagr’s vocabulary, and in 38 games played last year, he was able to notch 29 points.

Not only that, but he still looks like has the physique he did when he was 25!

Ahoj HR! Trpělivost je v životě, ale i hokeji důležitá. Zvlášť v této době... díky ní jsme se zase dočkali zápasů. #hokej #mojeprvnivolba
