In the midst of a struggling season, Toronto Blue Jays fans can hardly wait as top prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. makes his climb towards the majors, especially after his recent call-up to the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons. After Wednesday night, their excitement will be stoked even further.

On Wednesday, he hit his first Triple-A home run, slapping a moonshot off Atlanta Braves prospect Kyle Wright (who himself is considered one of the top pitching prospects in baseball).

In eight games with the Bisons, Vlad Jr. has absolutely raked with a batting percentage of .455. According to MLB.com’s rankings, he is the undisputed number one prospect in all of baseball. So, you know, that’s something to be excited about as the season enters its final leg.

Appearing on TSN’s OverDrive on Wednesday, Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins discussed a number of topics, including a potential call-up for Vlad Jr. While Atkins declined to talk in specifics, he does describe the proper time and fit as being crucial, as well as the experience for Vlad that comes with being the son of a major leaguer.

Other topics include the long-term status of John Gibbons as manager, the Roberto Osuna trade and an injury update on Josh Donaldson. You can listen to the full interview here.
