Jeopardy is a long-running game show that has found its way onto many household TV sets over the years. Contestants battle to answer Trivia questions that are sorted into six categories each round.

On Friday’s episode of Jeopardy, hockey fans were treated to the category “NHL Logos” in which host Alex Trebek describes an NHL teams logo and the contestants try to answer with their best “What is…”

The first clue worth $200 was “A webbed foot forms the “D” in this team’s name on their logo” (at 1:30 in video below). Brandon answers with “the Mighty Ducks”, which is technically incorrect but Canadian Trebek lets it slide and corrects him with just “the Anaheim Ducks”

The $400 clue read “In 2010 they brought back crossed swords to their Bison Logo” (at 7:20 in video below). Claudia quickly answers with the Buffalo Sabres.

The $600 clue came up as “A sea creature is depicted chomping on a hockey stick on the logo of this San Jose team” (at 7:30 in video below). This, of course, is the Sharks. Claudia answers correctly.

The $800 clue read “A musical note outlined in yellow & navy has served as their logo since 1998” (at 7:40 in video below). Brandon answers his second correctly, responding with the Blues.

Finally, the $1,000 clue emerged. “This team’s flying wheel logo is the oldest unchanged logo in the NHL, created in 1948” (at 7:58 in video below). This is where the contestants falter. Claudia costs herself $1,000 by answering the Philadelphia Flyers, while Brandon and Sean remain silent. For what feels like eternity to NHL fans, Trebek finally relieves the silence and reports that the Detroit Red Wings were the remaining team logo.

To summarize, Brandon received $1,000 total from the NHL logos category, Claudia gained $1,000 but then lost it all with her Flyers fault, Sean stayed silent for the category despite asking for the clues twice.

While the contestants were rewarded for 4 out of 5 answers, die hard hockey fans will tell you that Brandon’s “Mighty Ducks” response was not satisfactory.
