Ahhhh, the goal that never was, but was anyway.

Winnipeg Jets defenceman Joe Morrow gave a vallant effort on his third period snipe against the Minnesota Wild, but there was just one problem; the puck never crossed the line. After Morrow retrieved a pass from sharp shooter Patrik Laine (the irony), the blue-liner proceeded to absolutely snizz one past Andrew Hammond, but couldn’t beat the posts and crossbar. He sold it all pretty well though, because the referees didn’t think twice before dropping the puck at centre ice shortly after. Here’s the evidence:

And guess what? The goal stood as the game-winner in a 2-1 win for the Jets. Talk about a nightmare for Hammond & co. And what happened to the whole “the crossbar and post is a goalie’s best friend” thing? Yikes.

There's no video review in the preseason so the goal stood, but wow, what a blown call.
