By any measure, Baker Mayfield had a pretty successful night. In a quarterback-heavy draft, he beat out stiff competition to become the first overall pick in the NFL Draft on Thursday. Congrats! You’re now on the Cleveland Browns, Baker, and Jimmy Kimmel has jokes for you.

Shortly after being picked first overall, Mayfield called into Jimmy Kimmel Live for a brief interview with the host. At 1:51 into the following video is the point where Kimmel decides that it’s time to go for the jugular:

“So, the good news is, you only have to beat zero wins to improve the team next year,” said Kimmel. Mayfield’s reaction speaks for itself.

For his part, Mayfield wouldn’t guarantee improvement on the team’s record (so it goes, being a Browns quarterback), but he said that things were “going to be good and I’m excited to get it rolling.”

We’ll see! No doubt, Mayfield’s prospects are bright, certainly enough to make him the first overall pick over talents such as Sam Darnold, Josh Allen and Josh Rosen, but he’s fighting an uphill battle against all of Browns history here.
