A tragic incident took place in Toronto earlier this week as a man drove a rental van down a busy Yonge Street and ended up killing 10 people and injuring at least 15 others.

Sports franchises and professional athletes from across North America have shown the city support during the difficult time and on Thursday afternoon Toronto native Joey Votto showed some love for Const. Ken Lam, the officer who made the arrest on Monday afternoon.

The Cincinnati Reds first baseman honoured the arresting officer by writing his name on his game day cleats and ended up hitting a three-run home run in the game.

The 34-year-old went 21 straight games without a home run to start the season, but has gone yard in each of the past three games. On the season, Votto owns a .256 batting average and a .363 OBP.
