The Tampa Bay Lightning and Montreal Canadiens shook the hockey world last week when the two teams announced they had completed a trade that included Jonathan Drouin.
As expected, Habs fans were ecstatic about the news, while Lightning fans were completely rattled by the trade as they thought for sure Drouin was going to be part of the team’s future.
The Canadiens wasted no time introducing their newest asset to the local media and were quick to sign the 22-year-old to a six-year contract extension.
On Sunday, Drouin broke his silence on Twitter and shared a heartfelt message with Lightning fans thanking them for all their support over the past three seasons.
Drouin’s career is still young, but he’s already gone through a lot in just three NHL seasons.
