Saturday marked a wild day in the NHL, with the clear headliner taking place between the Ottawa Senators and LA Kings, more specifically between Brady Tkachuk and Brendan Lemieux. The latter appeared to bite the former (and there was a heck of a lot of blood, too), and it didn’t take long for the Sens captain to share his mind about the situation.

Well, Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick has his own thoughts on the situation and despite Tkachuk’s comments, the netminder wants everyone to know that Lemieux is in fact a good teammate.

During media availability on Sunday, Quick was quick to defend his teammate and call Tkachuk’s comments ‘garbage’.

“I have my own opinion about what happened, or did not happen last night, and what I can tell you is that any comments that were made about Pep were garbage,” Quick said. “He’s a valuable player who sticks up for his teammates. We all support him and I’d rather have him on my team over that kid any day of the week.”

As for the original comments… an emotional Tkachuk clearly had no intention of holding back.

Regardless of what transpired, it’s clear that Quick and Tkachuk have clashing opinions on the 25-year-old. Lemieux was offered an in-person hearing by the NHL’s Player Safety department so time will tell how this one is dealt with.
