Elias Pettersson commanded the vast majority of first-place votes to win last year’s Calder Trophy, but Jordan Binnington — who took most of the second-place votes — thought it shoud’ve been him.

You can’t hate on the guy for having a competitive streak, but it does make things interesting.

Pettersson finished last season with 28 goals and 38 assists in 71 games, while Binnington recorded a 24-5-1 record with a 1.89 GAA. Binnington was also key to the Blues’ midseason turnaround that eventually culminated in their Stanley Cup championship... so you can’t say he didn’t come away with some hardware last season.

The Blues were able to beat the Canucks when the two faced off on Tuesday, but Pettersson has come out very strong with six goals and 14 assists in 15 games — earning the NHL’s first star for the week.
