The Utah Jazz scratched and clawed their way to a 1st place overall finish in the NBA this season. They fought through some injuries to star players Mike Conley and Donovan Mitchell, and utilized a well-balanced attack to help take on the league’s known super teams.

One man that had a lot to do with that balance is Jazz sixth man Jordan Clarkson.

Clarkson recorded career-high averages in points (18.4), rebounds (4), steals (0.9), free throw percentage (0.896), and three pointers (3.1). He also had a stellar year in other categories, and all of this came while playing off the bench.

The career year earned him Sixth Man of the Year honours, beating out New York Knicks Derrick Rose, and his own teammate Joe Ingles. To make the moment extra special, Clarkson was surprised while on air for NBA on TNT, with fellow finalist Ingles presenting him the award.

What a special moment for the two Jazz teammates, but we’re guessing they won’t be celebrating for too long. Coming off a Game 1 loss to the Play-In Memphis Grizzlies, the Jazz are looking to ensure a stellar season does get cut too short in playoffs.
