Justin Turner went through quite possibly the strangest experience in World Series history on Tuesday night.

Turner, who’s been a key piece of the Dodgers organization over the past several years, discovered he had tested positive for COVID-19 in the second inning of Game Six. After his initial test from Monday came back inconclusive, the 35-year-old’s Tuesday test ultimately proved to be positive but despite the discovery, Turner stayed in the game for until the eighth inning. The MLB eventually forced Turner to exit the game, but that didn’t stop him from celebrating the victory with his teammates on the field. In fact, he was even spotted removing his mask while players gathered for the annual championship photo.

Just a totally surreal situation. Turner took to Twitter after the victory and informed fans that he was not feeling any symptoms. The only issue with the tweet, of course, is that he was in fact out their celebrating with his guys.

According to FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal, Turner was asked to not return to the field.

Your guess is as good as ours, Don.

It’s unclear at this point how the league will react to Turner’s decision but for now, let’s just hope that those in close contact with him don’t test positive. Definitely one of the more bizarre sequences you’ll ever see during a sporting event.
