Kaapo Kakko is expected to be one of the first names off the board this summer at the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and that shouldn’t come as a surprise after watching his performance at the 2019 World Juniors and throughout the season in the Liiga.

The 18-year-old is playing in his first full season with TPS Turku in Finland and the youngster has hasn’t any issues adapting to the professional level as he has a chance to set a new record after his performance on Saturday. Despite trailing 4-1 late in the game, Kakko  didn’t let the three-goal deficit stand in the way of giving it his all until the final whistle and he picked up a beautiful goal thanks to his efforts.

With his 21st goal of the season Kakko managed to tie Aleksander Barkov’s record for most goals in a season by an 18-year-old, which he accomplished during the 2012-13 campaign scoring 21 goals and 48 points in 53 games. The late marker also moved Kakko into a tie for 7th in the entire league for goals, and extended his team-lead to three.
