Katie Camlin, a liquor store employee, broke the Mahomes signing before anyone else

The Patrick Mahomes deal was one we knew was going to happen at some point, but the timing of it all (and obviously the money) seemingly came out of nowhere.....depending on who you follow on Twitter.

Earlier in the day before Adam Schefter broke the news that Mahomes would be signing a 10-year extension with Kansas City, a liquor store employee by the name of Katie Camlin tweeted big news was on the way, but deleted the tweet.

I spoke w/ the news & I also spoke with the gentleman who was in the store this morning. We are on the same page & we are okay! I wanted to make sure everyone’s job was safe & that there was no issue with the organization. I got excited & made a guess that turned out to be right

Hours later, Mahomes signed the biggest deal in sports history and people who saw Katie's tweet credited her for the scoop, not Schefter.

It's not easy to beat Schefter to a sports scoop as big as Mahomes signing the biggest deal in sports history, but Katie did and Adam even DMed her to say congrats.
