One of the biggest hockey bloopers or mishaps was made by former Florida Panthers defenceman Keith Ballard from the 2009-10 season.

Following a breakaway from Ilya Kolvachuk in which Kolvachuk broke away from him, Ballard tried to take his frustrations out on the goal post by whacking his stick, but misjudged his depth perception and hit Vokun right in the head.

It was one of the most puzzling things to ever see, because nobody could fathom how Ballard made contact with his goaltender, even though it was a horrible mistake.

On Sunday night, Drew Doughty and the Los Angeles Kings lost to the Vegas Golden Knights 4-2 for their fifth loss in their last six games. The Kings were down by a goal late and pulled their goaltender for the extra attacker. Golden Knights rookie Alex Tuch sealed the deal with an empty netter, and Kings defenceman Drew Doughty was none too pleased. Like Ballard did, Doughty decided to take his anger out by smashing his stick.

The only thing different? Why there was no goalie to hit, and Ballard made light of the situation.

It’s almost been ten years, but it’s pretty funny to see Ballard poke some fun at himself and the situation.
