The Carolina Panthers shocked a lot of people within the football community when they dealt wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin to the Buffalo Bills halfway through the 2017 season and the deal appears to have left a bad taste in Benjamin’s mouth.

The 27-year-old receiver is getting a chance to play his former team for the first time as the Bills opened up their 2018 preseason at home against the Panthers on Thursday night. Before the game Cam Newton attempted to catch up with his former go-to receiver but Benjamin wasn’t having any of it.

Newton approached Benjamin on the field just over 90 minutes before kick-off but it appeared as if Benjamin had nothing to say to him and didn’t want anything to do with him. In case you missed it, this all comes after Benjamin called out Newton during an interview with The Athletic’s Tim Graham.

“It was a bad fit from the get-go. If you would’ve put me with any other quarterback, let’s be real, you know what I’m saying? Any other accurate quarterback like Rodgers or Eli Manning or Big Ben – anybody! – quarterbacks with knowledge, that know how to place a ball and give you a better chance to catch the ball. It just felt like I wasn’t in that position.”

Considering everything Benjamin said about Newton and his former team you’d think it would be the other way around Newton would be the one avoiding Benjamin, but clearly that wasn’t the case.
