SKA Saint Petersburg defenceman Andrei Zubarev has looked like a new man throughout the Gagarin Cup.

After going two years without a goal, the 30-year-old defenceman scored in Game 2 and it was a rocket from centre ice.

Turns out his long distance goal sparked something inside of him. Two games later, Zubarev put together another strong performance and scored his second goal of the playoffs. Only this wasn’t a lucky bounce from centre, it was a hard-fought shift from beginning to end.

He started it all off with a massive hit in his own zone to help his team get possession of the puck back. He then turned on the jets and went the other way and connected on a massive rebound that found the back of the net.

His goal not only tied the game at 2 in the third period, but set up his team to take the victory.
