September 7, 2018, marks the seventh anniversary of the tragic event that took place in Russia involving the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl hockey team. Since that day, the KHL and its teams, as well as other hockey players and franchises around the world have found different ways to honour the lives that were lost that day.

This year, the twelve teams playing on September 7 will pay tribute to the players and staff members who lost their lives seven years ago in a few different ways. The six arenas hosting the games will have sections marked off in the arena that will be covered with Lokomotiv scarves and there will be a moment of silence held before each game.

To go with the memorial sections inside the arenas there will also be special logos painted on the ice, as well as special patches that will be featured on the jerseys of all 12 teams playing on the anniversary.

It’s a day that hockey fans around the world will never forget.
