For years, a huge part of all sports video games have been the ridiculous celebrations used in the game that rarely make it to real life.

One that never seemed like it would make it was the dive. In both FIFA and NHL video games, there is a version of a diving celebration. In FIFA, it’s basically a player jumping in the air, going stiff and then landing on the ground without any movement – it’s spectacular. In NHL, it’s similar, but because of the ice it often leads to the player sliding head first into the boards.

Sergei Shumakov, a forward of CSKA Moscow, is clearly a fan of the celebration as he did his own interpretation of it after scoring an OT winner against Kunlun Red Star.

We never thought we’d see this in real life. Unfortunately, he didn’t do it head first into the boards, but, baby steps.

As the celebrations get more and more ridiculous in video games, we can only hope that players will continue to use them in real life. Perhaps one of the young leafs will bring their dab onto the ice this season.
