Ahead of Bryant’s big night, the five-time NBA champion teased his new film called “Dear Basketball”, which is an animated version of the poem he wrote for The Players’ Tribune during his final NBA season.

On Tuesday morning, Bryant received some fantastic news as The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences unveiled the list of Oscars nominees and his animated short film was on the list for the best Animated Short.

The 18-time NBA All-Star probably wasn’t expecting his poem about basketball to ever get nominated for an award, but we’re not shocked since he knows a thing or five about winning.
