Heading into the 2017-18 NBA season, Kobe Bryant reached out to DeMar DeRozan, Isaiah Thomas and Giannis Antetokounmpo with some specific challenges for this NBA season.

Although he challenged DeRozan to rekindle a lost friendship from his youth in his hometown of Compton, the three-time NBA All-Star seems to be gunning for Antetokounmpo’s challenge to win the MVP, especially after scoring a franchise-high 52 points on New Year’s Day.

Aside from his performance against the Dallas Mavericks on December 26, 2017, DeRozan has been playing out of his mind as of late and has scored 40 or more points in two of his last six games. His hard work has not gone unnoticed this season, as Kobe showed some love for the Compton, California native on Tuesday night.

Considering Kobe has only tweeted about DeRozan and Los Angeles Lakers rookie Kyle Kuzma over the past month, it’s quite an honour to see one of the greatest players of all-time show some love and support for DeRozan.
